Instructions:

Step 1: Gather your supplies To create your own origami tulip, you’ll need just two sheets of origami paper: one in your desired flower color (like pink or any other vibrant hue) and one green sheet for the stem and leaf.

Step 2: Begin folding Take the colored paper and fold it neatly in half from top to bottom. If you’re using single-sided origami paper, ensure the colored side is facing up.

Step 3: Continue folding Flip the paper over so the long edge is positioned at the top. Fold the left and right sides in towards the center, creating a two-layered triangle. Then, fold the top left flap upward so that the bottom aligns with the center and the top points meet.

Step 4: Shape the tulip Open the paper, forming an “X” shape from above, giving your tulip dimension.

Step 5: Craft the stem Now, grab the green origami paper and hold it color side up, resembling a diamond shape with the points upward and to the side.

Step 6: Fold the leaf and assemble Fold the bottom point of the diamond up to meet the top point. Then, fold the sides inwards, smoothing the fold as you go. The bottom layer should naturally fold down, forming the leaf. Finally, combine the flower and stem parts to complete your origami tulip.

Helpful Tips:

  • Insert a green pipe cleaner into the bottom of your tulip for easy arrangement into a bouquet.
  • Enhance the faux flower with floral perfume or essential oils for a delightful scent.
  • To shape the tulip, gently blow air into the bottom and adjust as needed.
  • Origami paper or colored printer paper (cut into squares) works best for this craft. No glue is required for display purposes, but you can use hot glue or tacky glue if desired.
